Cameron Watt is a British painter based in Värnamo, Sweden. He studied drawing and painting at Edinburgh Art College in the early 2000s.
His paintings feature familiar motifs: landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Traditionally these motifs have been used to depict the world around us, but here.. they tell us just as much about the artist as any self portrait could.
His work is characterized by an instinctive yet unique sense of color and loose, frantic brushwork that often blurs the line between drawing and painting.
Walking into the gallery you're struck initially by the sheer confidence of scale and brazen mark making... but moving up close, a vulnerability also begins to emerge – a precarious balancing act teetering on the edge of chaos.
